Murphy won 7-3 against Stuart Thompson (Halifax, NS), then won 8-2 against Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS) and 6-2 against Glen MacLeod (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Sobeys Classic Championship title, Murphy earned 21.701 world rankings points along with the $3,200CDN first prize cheque, moving up 19 spots the World Ranking Standings into 43rd place overall with 56.663 total points. Murphy ranks 32nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 28.226 points earned so far this season.
