To advance to the championship game, Thompson won 4-3 over Paul Dexter (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2015 Bud Light Men's Cashspiel in Halifax, Nova Scotia; and won 6-5 over Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS) in the quarterfinals. of the 2015 Bud Light Men's Cashspiel in Halifax, Nova Scotia;

Thompson finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) 5-2, then won 5-4 against Alan Darragh (Halifax, NS) and 10-5 against Richard Barker (Windsor, NS). Thompson went on to lose 4-2 against Danbrook. Thompson responded with a 6-1 win over Mike Callaghan (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Bud Light Men's Cashspiel Championship title, Thompson earned 13.888 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 23 spots the World Ranking Standings into 73rd place overall with 36.110 total points. Thompson ranks 67th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.679 points earned so far this season.
