To advance to the championship game, Thomas won 6-2 over Robert Collins (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2015 Original 16 WCT Bonspiel in Calgary, Alberta; and won 6-1 over Rhett Friesz (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals.
Thomas finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thomas defeated Friesz 6-2, then won 6-0 against Brock Virtue (Calgary , AB) and 7-5 against Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Original 16 WCT Bonspiel Championship title, Thomas earned 23.171 world rankings points along with the $4,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 19th place overall with 206.325 total points. Thomas ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 148.167 points earned so far this season.
