Simmons went on to lose 6-4 against Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB). Simmons lost 7-3 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) where Simmons responded with a 6-4 win over Mike Kennedy (Moncton, NB). Simmons went on to lose 8-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Simmons responded with a 9-8 win over Glenn Howard (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Simmons earned 19.003 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Simmons move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 17.751 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 10th overall with 388.558 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Simmons ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 172.558 points earned so far this season.
