Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) finished 8-3 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen lost 5-4 to Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL), then responded with a 6-2 win over Glenn Howard (Toronto, ON). McEwen won 6-3 against Mike Kennedy (Moncton, NB). McEwen went on to lose 9-4 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). McEwen responded with a 5-4 win over Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). McEwen won 6-4 against Pat Simmons (Calgary, CAN), then won 6-5 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) and 8-3 against Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC). McEwen went on to lose 8-5 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). McEwen responded with a 8-6 win over Jean-Michel Menard (Gatineau, QC). McEwen won 8-3 against Adam Casey (Summerside, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.

McEwen earned 38.005 world rankings points for their Top 4 finish in the Tim Hortons Brier, remaining in 1st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 18.024 after improving upon their best so far this season. McEwen ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 420.594 points earned so far this season.
