To advance to the championship game, Jones won 6-4 over Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2016 Players' Championship in Toronto, Ontario; and won 7-4 over Val Sweeting (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals.

Jones finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jones defeated Kelsey Rocque (Edmonton, AB) 5-3, then won 4-2 against Alina Paetz (Zurich, SUI). Jones went on to lose 7-4 against Muirhead. Jones responded with a 6-4 win over Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS). Jones won 7-1 against Sweeting in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Players' Championship, Jones take home 60.349 world rankings points along with the $17,000CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 27.357 after improving upon their best so far this season. Jones ranks 2nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 394.102 points earned so far this season.
