Hackner lost 7-2 to Glen Despins (Regina, SK) where Hackner responded with a 6-3 win over Walter Wallingham (Whitehorse, YK). Hackner won 7-6 against Ted Butler (Buckingham, QC), then won 10-5 against Rod MacDonald (Summerside, PEI). Hackner went on to lose 10-5 against Ed Sattelberger (Iqaluit, NU). Hackner responded with a 6-3 win over Gary Oke (Corner Brook, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
