Paetz won 8-4 against Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS), then won 8-7 against Sanna Puustinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN) and 6-5 against Kristin Skaslien (Oslo, NOR). Paetz won 7-6 against Jones, then won 8-6 against Eve Muirhead (Stirling, SCO) and 7-5 against Margaretha Sigfridsson (Skelleftea, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the World Women's Curling Championship Championship title, Paetz earned 45.000 world rankings points.
