Sijia Liu (Harbin, CHN) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, Liu finished 7-4 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Liu defeated Kristin Skaslien (Oslo, NOR) 10-6, then won 7-5 against Daniela Driendl (Fuessen, GER) and 8-4 against Aileen Sormunen (Blaine, USA). Liu went on to lose 7-1 against Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, CAN). Liu lost 7-3 to Alina Paetz (Baden Regio, SUI). Liu lost 9-3 to Margaretha Sigfridsson (Skelleftea, SWE) where Liu responded with a 7-5 win over Eve Muirhead (Stirling, SCO). Liu won 9-6 against Ayumi Ogasawara (Sapporo, JPN), then won 10-3 against Lene Nielsen (Hvidovre, DEN) and 6-5 against Sanna Puustinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Liu went on to lose 11-6 against Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Liu earned 14.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 12 spots the World Ranking Standings into 32nd place overall with 49.318 total points. Liu ranks 26th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 39.710 points earned so far this season.
