Liu won 9-6 against Ayumi Ogasawara (Sapporo, JPN), then won 10-3 against Lene Nielsen (Hvidovre, DEN) and 6-5 against Sanna Puustinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Liu went on to lose 11-6 against Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.
Liu earned 14.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 12 spots the World Ranking Standings into 32nd place overall with 49.318 total points. Liu ranks 26th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 39.710 points earned so far this season.
