Kauste won 8-3 against Markku Uusipaavalniemi (Helsinki, FIN), then won 8-5 against Kalle Kiiskinen (Hyvinkaa, FIN) and 10-2 against Saarelainen. Kauste won 8-7 against Rantamaki, then won 7-2 against Anttila. Kauste went on to lose 9-6 against Sullanmaa. Kauste responded with a 10-1 win over Kokkola. Kauste won 8-2 against Uusipaavalniemi. Kauste went on to lose 7-6 against Kiiskinen. Kauste responded with a 10-1 win over Sullanmaa. Kauste went on to lose 7-5 against Kiiskinen. Kauste responded with a 10-2 win over Anttila. Kauste won 11-3 against Sullanmaa, then won 7-6 against Kiiskinen. Kauste went on to lose 7-6 against Anttila in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Finnish Men's Championship, Kauste take home 2.500 world rankings points, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 82nd place overall with 23.607 total points. Kauste ranks 56th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 17.725 points earned so far this season.
