Koivula won 7-3 against Wes Craig (Mill Bay, BC), then won 5-3 against Jared Kolomaya (Gimli, MB) and 7-2 against Tom Wharry (Montreal, QC). Koivula went on to lose 6-2 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT) in their final qualifying round match.
