To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 5-4 over Thomas Scoffin (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Whitney Field Jr. Curling Classic in Lloydminister, Alberta; and won 4-3 over Jeremy Venderbuhs (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals.
Sturmay finished 1-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay lost 6-4 to Dallas Burnett (Saskatoon, SK), then responded with a 8-1 win over Luke McCreary (Saskatoon, SK). Sturmay went on to lose 8-6 against Tyler Lautner (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
