To advance to the championship game, McCormick won 4-3 over Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2014 Coors Light Cash Spiel in Duluth, Minnesota, United States; and won 5-2 over Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Coors Light Cash Spiel in Duluth, Minnesota, United States;
McCormick finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McCormick defeated Riley Fenson (Bemidji, MN) 7-2, then won 5-2 against Bryan Burgess (Thunder Bay, NONT) and 9-6 against Hackner. McCormick went on to lose 5-4 against Craig Brown (Blaine, USA). McCormick responded with a 8-3 win over Stephen Dropkin (Minneapolis, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Coors Light Cash Spiel Championship title, McCormick earned 7.300 world rankings points along with the $3,622CDN first prize cheque, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 22nd place overall with 77.950 total points. McCormick ranks 21st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 35.825 points earned so far this season.
