To advance to the championship game, Stevens won 5-3 over Peter Burgess (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2014 Gibson's Cashspiel in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; and won 8-2 over Adam Casey (Charlottetown, PEI) in the quarterfinals.
Stevens finished 5-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stevens defeated Doug MacKenzie (Halifax, NS) 8-1, then won 8-2 against Kevin Saccary (Halifax, NS) and 6-2 against John Luckhurst (Halifax, NS). Stevens won 6-2 against Paul Dexter (Halifax, NS), then won 6-1 against Richard Barker (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Gibson's Cashspiel, Stevens take home 1.750 world rankings points along with the $1,200CDN prize, remaining in 60th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 16.600 total points. Stevens ranks 26th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.750 points earned so far this season.
