To advance to the championship game, Kim won 7-4 over Sean O'Connor (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Black Diamond / High River Cash in Black Diamond / High River, Alberta; and won 4-0 over Robert Collins (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Kim finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated John Stroh (Medicine Hat, AB) 9-3, then went on to lose 9-5 against Kyler Kleibrink (Okotoks, AB). Kim responded with a 6-5 win over Thomas Usselman (Calgary, AB). Kim went on to lose 9-5 against Virtue. Kim responded with a 7-1 win over John Steel (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Black Diamond / High River Cash, Kim take home 1.750 world rankings points along with the $1,400CDN prize, moving up 25 spots the World Ranking Standings into 175th place overall with 4.975 total points. Kim ranks 99th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.975 points earned so far this season.
