Dean Joanisse (New Westminster, BC) won 7-6 over Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC) in the Final of the Vancouver Island Shootout, held November 21 - 23, 2014 at the Victoria Curling Club in Victoria, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Joanisse won 5-4 over Chris Baier (Victoria, BC) in the semifinals
 
Joanisse finished 4-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Joanisse defeated Stephen Schneider (Vancouver, BC) 8-0, then went on to lose 6-3 against Geall. Joanisse responded with a 7-4 win over Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC). Joanisse won 8-2 against Hayato Matsumura (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 6-5 against Brent Pierce (Kelowna , BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Vancouver Island Shootout Championship title, Joanisse earned 2.500 world rankings points along with the $3,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 76th place overall with 17.364 total points. Joanisse ranks 75th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.705 points earned so far this season.
