Daylan Vavrek (Sexsmith, AB) lost 4-2 to Soo-Hyuk Kim (Gang Won, KOR) in the Final of the Avonair Cash Spiel, held October 3 - 5, 2014 at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Vavrek won 5-3 over James Pahl (Sherwood Park, AB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Avonair Cash Spiel in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and won 5-2 over Mick Lizmore (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Vavrek finished 2-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Vavrek defeated Alberta's Jessi Wilkinson 8-6, then won 6-2 against Greg Keith (Spruce Grove, AB). Vavrek went on to lose 6-3 against Pahl in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Avonair Cash Spiel, Vavrek take home 2.100 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN prize, moving up 25 spots the World Ranking Standings into 139th place overall with 5.330 total points. Vavrek ranks 61st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.100 points earned so far this season.
