To advance to the championship game, Carey won 5-2 over Kristie Moore (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2014 HDF Insurance Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta; and won 6-2 over Heather Nedohin (Edmonton, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 HDF Insurance Shoot-Out in Edmonton, Alberta;
Carey finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carey defeated Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB) 4-2, then won 6-2 against Kelsey Rocque (Edmonton, AB). Carey went on to lose 6-5 against Michele Jaggi (Berne, SUI). Carey responded with a 6-3 win over Delia DeJong (Grande Prairie, AB). Carey won 7-5 against Nicky Kaufman (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the HDF Insurance Shoot-Out Championship title, Carey earned 18.300 world rankings points along with the $6,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 14th place overall with 60.543 total points. Carey ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 18.300 points earned so far this season.
