MacDonald went on to lose 7-6 against Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidovre, DEN). MacDonald responded with a 8-6 win over Pete Fenson (Bemidji, USA). MacDonald went on to lose 6-5 against Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE). MacDonald lost 6-4 to Thomas Ulsrud (Snaroen, NOR) where MacDonald responded with a 7-5 win over Evgeniy Arkhipov (Moscow, RUS). MacDonald went on to lose 7-5 against Kevin Koe (Edmonton, CAN). MacDonald lost 10-3 to Johnny Jahr (Hamburg, GER) in their final qualifying round match.
