Ulsrud won 6-3 against Eriksson, then won 5-3 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Ulsrud went on to lose 7-6 against Johnny Jahr (Hamburg, GER). Ulsrud responded with a 9-5 win over Kevin Koe (Edmonton, CAN). Ulsrud won 6-4 against Ewan MacDonald (Perth, SCO), then won 11-2 against Evgeniy Arkhipov (Moscow, RUS) and 6-4 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, USA). Ulsrud won 7-6 against Peter de Cruz (Geneve, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the World Curling Championship Championship title, Ulsrud earned 45.000 world rankings points.
