Gushue lost 9-4 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) where Gushue responded with a 9-7 win over James Grattan (Oromocto, NB). Gushue went on to lose 7-6 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). Gushue responded with a 8-5 win over Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI). Gushue went on to lose 5-3 against John Morris (Vernon, BC). Gushue responded with a 10-6 win over Jean-Michel Menard (St-Romauld, PQ). Gushue won 7-6 against Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, NONT), then won 9-2 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, Y/NWT) in their final qualifying round match.

Gushue earned 12.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 7th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 8 after improving upon their best so far this season. Gushue ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 156.980 points earned so far this season.
