Koe won 9-3 against Jeff Currie (Thunder Bay, NONT), then won 8-5 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) and 7-3 against Jamie Murphy (Lower Sackville, NS). Koe won 10-5 against Greg Balsdon (Hamilton, ON), then won 9-6 against Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI). Koe went on to lose 7-5 against Jean-Michel Menard (St-Romauld, PQ) in their final qualifying round match.
