Kelsey Rocque (Edmonton, CAN) won 6-4 over KyeongAe Kim (GeongBuk, KOR) in the Final of the World Junior Championships, held February 26 - March 5, 2014 in Flims, Switzerland.
Rocque finished 7-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Rocque defeated Zuzana Hajkova (Prague, CZE) 7-6, then won 8-6 against Veronica Zappone (Pinerolo, ITA). Rocque went on to lose 6-4 against Alina Kovaleva (Moscow, RUS). Rocque lost 8-6 to Kim where Rocque responded with a 8-3 win over Isabella Wrana (Sundbyberg, SWE). Rocque won 8-5 against Corina Mani (Aarau, SUI), then won 8-4 against Cory Christensen (Duluth, USA) and 7-6 against Gina Aitken (Edinburgh, SCO). Rocque won 12-5 against Christine Svensen (Hvidovre, DEN) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the World Junior Championships Championship title, Rocque earned 8.000 world rankings points, moving up 14 spots the World Ranking Standings into 55th place overall with 26.201 total points. Rocque ranks 42nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 21.250 points earned so far this season.
