To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 6-2 over Colin Thomas (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals   of the 2014 Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard in St, Johns, Newfoundland / Labrador;   
 
Gushue finished 5-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Andrew Symonds (St. John's, NL) 9-2, then won 8-4 against Rick Rowsell (St. John's, NL) and 8-4 against Thomas. Gushue won 9-2 against Trent Skanes (St. John's, NL), then won 7-5 against Ken Peddigrew (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard Championship title, Gushue earned 4.000 world rankings points, remaining in 6th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 296.605 total points. Gushue ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 148.980 points earned so far this season.
