MacDonald won 11-4 against Lee McCleary (Stirling, SCO), then won 7-3 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO) and 10-3 against Grant Hardie (Stranraer, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Co-Operative Funeralcare Scottish Championhip Championship title, MacDonald earned 6.800 world rankings points, moving up 20 spots the World Ranking Standings into 71st place overall with 25.084 total points. MacDonald ranks 92nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 8.930 points earned so far this season.
