To advance to the championship game, Kolomaya won 5-2 over Bob Sigurdson (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2013 Nott Autocorp Thanksgiving Charity Open in Winnipeg, Manitoba; and won 5-4 over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Kolomaya finished 5-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kolomaya defeated Kyle Doering (winnipeg, MB) 7-2, then went on to lose 10-7 against Andrew Wickman (Winnipeg, MB). Kolomaya responded with a 6-3 win over Karen Fallis (Winnipeg, MB). Kolomaya won 5-4 against Richard Daneault (Winnipeg, MB). Kolomaya went on to lose 6-4 against Justin Stanus (Winnipeg , MB). Kolomaya responded with a 7-2 win over David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB). Kolomaya won 6-2 against David Kraichy (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
