To advance to the championship game, McCleary won 4-3 over Logan Gray (Stirling, SCO) in the semifinals of the 2013 Edinburgh International in Edinburgh, Scotland, Scotland; and won 5-4 over David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) in the quarterfinals.
McCleary finished 3-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McCleary defeated Markus Hoiberg (Oppdal, NOR) 7-3, then went on to lose 10-2 against Ritvars Gulbis (Riga, LAT). McCleary responded with a 7-6 win over David Sik (Prague, CZE). McCleary won 6-4 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO). McCleary went on to lose 12-1 against Edwards in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Edinburgh International, McCleary take home 5.145 world rankings points along with the $3,364CDN prize, moving up 357 spots the World Ranking Standings into 159th place overall with 5.145 total points. McCleary ranks 88th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.145 points earned so far this season.
