Carey won 9-8 against Alli Flaxey (Listowel, ON). Carey went on to lose 7-4 against Val Sweeting (Edmonton, AB). Carey responded with a 6-4 win over Kim Dolan (Charlottetown, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.

Carey earned 30.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
