Balsdon finished 4-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Balsdon defeated Ryan Myler (Brampton, ON) 6-5, then went on to lose 9-5 against Kevin Flewwelling (Toronto, ON). Balsdon responded with a 8-1 win over John Young Jr. (Chatham , ON). Balsdon won 6-2 against Richard Krell (Kitchener, ON), then won 5-4 against Tom Worth (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
