Nixon finished 2-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Nixon lost 5-4 to Whyte, then responded with a 8-3 win over Taylore Theroux (Edmonton, AB). Nixon won 7-4 against Chana Martineau (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Spruce Grove Cashspiel Championship title, Nixon earned 5.200 world rankings points along with the $2,700CDN first prize cheque, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 48th place overall with 25.643 total points.
