To advance to the championship game, King won 6-5 over Dustin Eckstrand (Red Deer, AB) in the semifinals of the 2013 Spruce Grove Cashspiel in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada; and won 7-2 over Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR) in the quarterfinals.
 
King finished 2-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, King lost 7-5 to Greg Keith (Spruce Grove, AB), then responded with a 8-0 win over Curtis Harrish (Calmar, AB). King won 5-4 against Wade White (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Spruce Grove Cashspiel, King take home 4.375 world rankings points along with the $1,800CDN prize, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 35th place overall with 47.945 total points. King ranks 51st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.325 points earned so far this season.
