Ferland finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ferland defeated Nicolas Marceau (Etchemin, PQ) 7-5, then won 6-4 against Denis Robichaud (Sorel-Tracy, PQ) and 5-3 against Fournier. Ferland won 8-2 against Steeve Gagnon (Montreal, PQ) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Vic Open Championship title, Ferland earned 5.350 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN first prize cheque, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 39th place overall with 44.360 total points. Ferland ranks 59th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 13.820 points earned so far this season.
