To advance to the championship game, Virtue won 5-3 over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2013 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and won 6-2 over Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC) in the quarterfinals.
 
Virtue finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Virtue defeated Dejia Zou (Harbin, CHN) 6-5, then won 6-3 against Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) and 7-5 against Josh Heidt (Kerrobert, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic, Virtue take home 12.075 world rankings points along with the $9,000CDN prize, moving up 13 spots the World Ranking Standings into 39th place overall with 34.330 total points. Virtue ranks 37th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 12.075 points earned so far this season.
