Koe finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Koe lost 8-6 to Bert Martin (Airdrie, AB), then responded with a 6-4 win over Curtis Harrish (Calmar, AB). Koe won 7-6 against Chris Baier (Victoria, BC), then won 7-2 against Tom Appelman (Edmonton, AB) and 10-5 against Matt Willerton (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
