John Shuster (Duluth, MN) finished 7-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster defeated Mike Farbelow (Minneapolis, MN) 8-5, then went on to lose 7-3 against Brady Clark (Seattle, WA). Shuster responded with a 7-6 win over Craig Brown (Madison, WI). Shuster went on to lose 6-5 against Tyler George (Duluth, MN). Shuster responded with a 7-6 win over Todd Birr (Mankato, MN). Shuster won 6-5 against Heath McCormick (New York, NY), then won 10-2 against Greg Persinger (Fairbanks, AK) and 10-4 against Ryan Lemke (Medford, WI). Shuster won 8-1 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) in their final qualifying round match.

Shuster earned 7.500 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the USA National Championships, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 41st place overall with 47.500 total points. Shuster ranks 29th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 37.300 points earned so far this season.
