In their opening game, Newell lost 16-2 to Carolyn Suley (St. John's, NL), droppimg another game, 15-5 to Sarah Hill (St. John's, NL). Newell lost 13-2 to Hill where Newell responded with a 14-5 win over Meghan Kearley (St. John's, NL). Newell went on to lose 8-2 against Suley. Newell responded with a 7-6 win over Kearley in their final qualifying round match.
