In their opening game, Calabrese lost 8-4 to Timothy Ho (Wayland, MA), then responded with a 11-5 win over Andrew Kraft (Plainfield, NJ). Calabrese won 11-8 against Charles Brown (Schenectady, NY). Calabrese went on to lose 7-4 against Richard Collier (Wayland, MA) in their final qualifying round match.
