In their opening game, Murphy defeated Eddie MacKenzie (Charlottetown, PEI) 7-6, then won 4-3 against Ken Peddigrew (St. John's, NL) and 6-2 against Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS). Murphy went on to lose 5-1 against Terry Odishaw (Moncton, NB). Murphy responded with a 5-1 win over Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Curl Atlantic Championship, Murphy take home 2.625 world rankings points, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 65th place overall with 15.375 total points. Murphy ranks 40th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.625 points earned so far this season.
