In their opening game, Thomas defeated Ken Peddigrew (St. John's, NL) 9-2, then won 9-3 against Brian Mercer (Labrador City, NL) and 8-3 against Newfoundland / Labrador's Andrew Symonds. Thomas won 9-4 against Shawn Adams (St. John's, NL). Thomas went on to lose 7-5 against Gushue. Thomas responded with a 8-7 win over Keith Ryan (Labrador City, NL). Thomas won 7-4 against Jeff Thomas (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the NL Provincials Mens Curling Championship, Thomas take home 2.500 world rankings points, moving up 16 spots the World Ranking Standings into 133rd place overall with 10.000 total points. Thomas ranks 182nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.500 points earned so far this season.
