To advance to the championship game, Birchard won 10-6 over Jamie Sinclair (Manotick, ON) in the semifinals of the 2013 M&M Meat Shops Junior Curling Championship in Fort McMurray, Alberta;
Birchard finished 9-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birchard defeated Tirzah Keffer (Thunder Bay, NONT) 9-6, then won 8-6 against Veronica Smith (Cornwall, PEI) and 9-2 against Sarah Dumais (Levis, PQ). Birchard won 8-3 against Sinclair, then won 8-3 against Carina McKay-Saturnino (Inuvik, NT) and 11-2 against Mary Myketyn-Driscoll (Truro, NS). Birchard won 8-7 against Sarah Koltun (Whitehorse, YK), then won 8-5 against Jessica Daigle (Fredericton, NB). Birchard went on to lose 13-6 against Brown. Birchard responded with a 9-4 win over Jessica Hanson (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the M&M Meat Shops Junior Curling Championship, Birchard take home 5.000 world rankings points, moving up 22 spots the World Ranking Standings into 92nd place overall with 10.550 total points. Birchard ranks 79th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.650 points earned so far this season.
