Thompson won 9-4 against Brady Scharback (Saskatoon, SK), then won 6-4 against Tyler Klymchuk (Langley, BC). Thompson went on to lose 7-5 against Thomas Scoffin (Edmonton, AB). Thompson responded with a 7-5 win over Aaron Squires (St. Thomas, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
