John Shuster (Duluth, MN) won 6-4 over Todd Birr (Mankato, MN) in the Final of the St. Paul Cash Spiel, held October 12 - 14, 2012 at the St. Paul Curling Club in St. Paul, . To advance to the championship game, Shuster won 7-3 over Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NONT) in the semifinals   of the 2012 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul; and won 6-2 over Ontario's Bryan Burgess in the quarterfinals.  of the 2012 St. Paul Cash Spiel in St. Paul; 
 
Shuster finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster lost 9-5 to Minnesota's Eric Fenson, then responded with a 6-4 win over Geoff Goodland (St. Paul, MN). Shuster won 9-5 against Greg Persinger (Fairbanks, AK), then won 8-5 against Jeffrey Erickson (St. Paul, MN) and 7-1 against Evan Workin (Fargo, ND) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the St. Paul Cash Spiel Championship title, Shuster earned 5.000 world rankings points along with the $4,513CDN first prize cheque, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 44th place overall with 30.200 total points. Shuster ranks 17th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 20.000 points earned so far this season.
