Jay Wakefield (New Westminster, BC) won 9-2 over Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC) in the Final of the Vancouver Island Shootout, held November 9 - 12, 2012 at the Victoria Curling Club in Victoria, Canada. Advancing directly to the semifinals, Wakefield won 6-1 over Andrew Bilesky (Vancouver , BC) to advance to the championship game. of the 2012 Vancouver Island Shootout in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada;
Wakefield finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wakefield defeated Cliff Carr-Hilton (Campbell River, BC) 8-4, then won 6-3 against Ken McArdle (New Westminster, BC) and 8-1 against Dangerfield in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Vancouver Island Shootout Championship title, Wakefield earned 2.500 world rankings points along with the $4,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 6 spots the World Ranking Standings into 90th place overall with 14.901 total points. Wakefield ranks 68th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 8.425 points earned so far this season.
