Johnson finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Johnson lost 7-3 to Ontario's Scott McDonald, then responded with a 8-2 win over Brandon Corbett (Rochester, NY). Johnson won 5-3 against Ontario's Bob Armstrong, then won 8-5 against Tom Pruliere (Sarnia, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Johnson earned 1.005 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Huron ReproGraphics Oil Heritage Classic, moving up 61 spots the World Ranking Standings into 254th place overall with 1.392 total points.
