To advance to the championship game, McDonald won 9-2 over Mark Haluptzok (Bemidji, MN) in the semifinals   of the 2012 Fort Wayne Summer Cash in Fort Wayne, Indiana; and won 9-4 over Ben Bevan (Ajax, ON) in the quarterfinals.  of the 2012 Fort Wayne Summer Cash in Fort Wayne, Indiana; 
 
McDonald finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald defeated Ethan Meyers (Duluth, MN) 9-4, then won 8-0 against Ontario's Doug Brewer and 9-2 against Gabrielle Coleman (San Francisco, CA). McDonald won 8-4 against Alexandra Carlson (St. Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Fort Wayne Summer Cash Championship title, McDonald earned 0.000 world rankings points along with the $1,978CDN first prize cheque. For week 1 of the event schedule, McDonald did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points.
