Moretto finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Moretto defeated Michael Shepherd (Richmond Hill, ON) 9-1, then won 7-1 against Dale Matchett (Cookstown , ON) and 9-5 against Bill Irwin (Barrie, ON). Moretto went on to lose 9-7 against Willie MacPherson (Alliston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
