Ferris finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ferris defeated Jeremy Roe (Madison, WI) 8-2, then won 8-4 against Jon St. Denis (Stouffville, ON) and 5-4 against Gord Thompson (Stroud, ON). Ferris won 7-1 against Don Campbell (Barrie, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
