Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS) won 7-6 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the Final of the Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau, held October 25 - 28, 2012 at the Buckingham Curling Club in Buckingham, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Dacey won 5-4 over Greg Balsdon (Toronto, ON) in the semifinals of the 2012 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau in Buckingham, Quebec, Canada; and won 8-7 over Mark Kean (Toronto, ON) in the quarterfinals.
Dacey finished 4-0 in the 28-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dacey defeated Pierre Charette (Buckingham, PQ) 6-1, then won 7-4 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) and 7-4 against Howard Rajala (Ottawa, ON). Dacey won 6-1 against Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau Championship title, Dacey earned 28.860 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 39 spots the World Ranking Standings into 31st place overall with 46.640 total points. Dacey ranks 13th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 42.090 points earned so far this season.
