Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) won 7-3 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the Final Martin advanced directly to the championship game after finishing first in the preliminary round. of the Canadian Curling Trials, held December 6 - 13, 2009 in Edmonton, Alberta.
 
Martin finished 6-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated Jason Gunnlaugson (Beausejour, MB) 7-5, then went on to lose 8-5 against Pat Simmons (Davidson, SK). Martin responded with a 7-3 win over Wayne Middaugh (Islington, ON). Martin won 8-4 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB), then won 9-5 against Randy Ferbey (Edmonton, AB) and 8-7 against Kevin Koe (Edmonton, AB). Martin won 8-6 against Howard in their final qualifying round match.
