Howard won 9-5 against Darrell McKee (Saskatoon, SK), then won 9-5 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) and 8-4 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB). Howard won 9-3 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, Y/NWT), then won 7-6 against Koe in their final qualifying round match.
